I'm looking to include 2 media reactors into my set up but I'm not sure what submersible pumps to use. At BRS they have a reactor for which they recommend a maxijet1200 but I'm probably going to mount the reactors above my sump so that the distance from the top of the reactor where the inlet is to the bottom of the sump will be somewhere around 28". Anyone know of a small submersible that will do the job?

The mj will probably work mine is set up kinda like that and it works fine. I'm sure some others have some other pumps in mind for you.

Edit: you could always make a manifold and run them off of the main pump.

+1 I am setting up a new system, and that is how I am planning my plumbing... UV, Calc Reactor, Media Reactor off of the manifold.

yeah...

if you can avoid adding a couple heat sources to your system, you'll be better off for it..

I'm glad you confirmed what I thought of during the night about tapping into my return line. I have a 3/4" line running off my manifold that feeds my UV. That line is turned down with a ball valve to limit the flow going to the UV. I think I should be able to tap into that line with a 3/4" T reduced down to a 1/2 which is what the reactor needs and increase the flow to the UV with the ball valve and then add a 1/2" ball valve to adjust the flow to the reactor. This all sounds right on paper. Now to see if it works in practice.
p.s. That set up you're building, I was next in line to buy that tank. Hope it's working out well for you. The picture of the tank in the F/S post was nice. Beautiful cabinet. Good luck.
