I currently have a 90 gallon with some SPS,LPS Zoe's and softies. I'm strongly considering the move to LEDs for better control and less heat ect ect. I'm torn and there is a ton of opposite opinions out there. I don't have a ton of money to spent so I'm thinking 2 controllable 24"s for a move to a more SPS dominate tank. So give me your opinions. Maybe keep one 250w mh with LEDs??? I just don't know. Lay it on me and your real world results.

For regular 90 gallon (48"x18"x24")?
I used T5 but never used MH before.
I am using LED (Photon 32)and am very happy. I do recommend going with high end LED's if possible.
I had MM LED (2 of em on 120) and my corals didnt do so well. Plus the loud fans are annoying.

Thinking now of 2 of the reefbreeders

I am a bit biased (especially since I am trying to sell some MM) but mine did very well while I kept my water up. As for fan noise, mine are pretty quiet. Not silent but.....

Depends on optics.
If i could buy led's right this moment. I would go with Max Razor. I've done a PAR test on them, and they are amazing. Growth is quite surprising.

Yay, MH is quite nice too. But those bulbs are costly over time and heat it produce are much to handle.
Guess having chiller or fan is a must if you do go MH route.
T5 bulbs also become expensive over time from my experience as well.

Yeah hard to beat LED's for pricing over time.

I heard fgreat review on Max Razor. It's amazing how few LED's can pull out such a PAR.
same with Kessel's. :)

I run both blues and whites at about 60%.

I think MM is great unit too for the price at the time. I just had problem with color's changing on my corals. It;s just my tank Im sure. ^^;
I just went and unplugged two of fan in each unit and it was definitely more quite. Not recommended if you have canopy tho. unless you have open top.

I have radion pros on my 93 cube and I love them Corals pop and I get great growth plus I feed like there starving I also have gen 2 over my 65 and get great growth I had t5s on my 65 before I switched to leds and I actually get more same growth but the Corals pop I do agree spend the extra dime and get good ones had tt before radions just my 2 cents

I do have 2 small fans in the canopy. I usually only run one if at all in winter. Summer I sometimes run 2. Water stays a pretty steady 78-80

The readings were so high i couldn't believe it.

I might go with 120s for a more lps/softie friendly zone on the bottom. Of course, my opinion is only worth what you paid for it.
