Micron pre-fillter question

I know it's taboo but I have a wet-dry with bioballs. Instead of, or in addition to, the blue filter floss that lines my drip plate, I thought I would cover the overflow hose wiith a micron filter sock. What size woudl you use in terms of microns

4" diameter sock, 200 microns.

Thank you. And I am guessing to cleaning it out once a week? I change water every 2 weeks. What do you think?

200 micron may or may not last a week depending on your system before it'll start to load up and overflow. I do weekly PWC and sock changes but I've heard others who can oly go a few days. You'll need multiple socks because it's not as simple as just rinsing....you actually hav eto wash them by some means. I recommend keeping at least 4 on hand to reduce maintenance. I have 6 and wash 5 at a time in the washing machine with bleach. I turn inside out and rinse well, then machine wash on gentle cycle, then soak and rinse in RO/DI and Prime after they dry from the washing machine. Clean white again after that process.

You'll be shocked how nasty and brown it'll be after a couple of days.
