Might be a dumb question....

I have a flame angel that I've had 4 months now and noticed it looks like it has one or two loose scales on it's side. I assume this is normal but I'm still new to the whole salt water thing so want to be sure.

He seems perfectly normal and eating great. No additions to the tank in a few months now. And water conditions are pretty much perfect across the board.

Thanks for the help!

Any change in behavior? Any aggressive tank mates? Probably nothing, hard to say w/o pics.

Keep an eye on it, in case it gets worse...

No change what so ever. I'll try and see if I can get a picture. But it's just a translucent flake just partially hanging on his side. I'm not sure it will show up on camera.

No cloudiness at all.

Here is a pic though its kind of blurry, sorry crappy point and shoot camera. You can only see it from certain angles, it has to catch the light right to see it.

I was going to suggest a FW dip for flukes aka trematodes, but after 4 months it's unlikely they'd take that long to show up.

Any other new additions recently?

It could be just that he bumped up and damaged a couple of scales on something - unless there's cause to believe there's something else going on, I'd take Dakota's recommendation and watch and wait.

I had a fish that fanned his tail on the heating element of the heater.......

That was a funny looking site for a while.......

Don't think it's anything to worry about now, as long as he's eating, and not flashing or hiding..

Thanks everyone. Hopefully it's nothing and will go away in the next few days.

Jenn, no new additions in the last 3 months. Just letting the tank mature and let the coral grow out.

Hmm dunno then. Flukes aren't out of the question... but hard to say.

I'd watch and wait. If you see any changes, post again and we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

And there are no dumb questions except the ones that aren't asked... well, that and the ones where the answer is ignored, but that isn't the question's fault anyway. :)

+1 and look up hlle. The lines on his face in that first pic look kinda odd

The lines are actually crap on the tank, I didn't clean the glass before I took the pictures. The lines aren't on the fish.

Online or some lfs carry it. Everything safe, as it's a food supplement with fatty acids, vit c, and vit b12...
