Yesterday I got a hang on the back Refugium that's about 24" long. Nice size one, any suggestions about what to put in there(i.e. deep sand bed, shallow sand bed, rocks, biomedia)? Also can anyone post pics of there refugiums if they have any suggestions? I was thinking maybe bio-balls, or super porous ceramic rings like at this link http://www.petdiscounters.com/Super_Porous_Ceramic_Rings_p_16268.html?utm_source=googlebase">http://www.petdiscounters.com/Super_Porous_Ceramic_Rings_p_16268.html?utm_source=googlebase </a>

or should I just go with live sand live rocks and some plants?

I have the same fuge. I hung mine on the back of the sump (bypasses the skimmer) so pics are hard. Its bare bottomed. I keep a few piles of live Rock that crumbled into 1-3in pieces. A korilla nano ph that I placed under the exit. And a wad of cheato floating/tumbling.

Honestly depending on the size of the display this sized fuge is pretty much useless for macro algae. Sure I keep it in there but i don't think it makes a dent. For pod production though it does great. I buy a bottle of pods (different kinds) every few months to ensure diversity and growth and I couldn't be happier with its performance. It takes up hardly any space but grows pods like crazy, just don't expect to use macro algae to control your phates with it and you won't be disappointed.

What do you mean "a bottle of pods"?

You can buy pods in a bottle both at some of our sponsors (I know optimum has them) and through some online retailers.
