I have a small Toadstool that will not attach itself to my rock. I have tried placing it in different areas but I will just not hold. It is happy wherever I place it because it fully opens and extends its polyps. About once a week I find it on the sand upside down. Its been about a month and I am running out of ideas.

Thanks

Couple things you can do...

• Put some water-weld on a rock with a toothpick sticking out of it, and skewer the toadstool stem onto it

• Pin it between two pieces of rubble rock and rubber-band the rocks together

It will eventually take a foothold to the rock.

Awesome, thanks J.B.
I guess I forgot to ask this while yall were here.

Hey curt I haven't forgot you bro. My main goal Thursday is to get those zoas cut. Lol. How are the other corals doing?

Yep, for softies, just take a toothpick and stick it through the stalk (this will REALLY tick them off) and then rubberband the toothpick to a rock. It can take 6-8 weeks for them to attach.

Im about to try this here in a minute. Im guessing you guys have the toothpick vertically and not horizontally correct?

No. Horizontal - through the base. like you'd stab a rod through the trunk of a tree.

I had a toadstool that was about an inch in size that stayed retracted for more than a month a few weeks after I got it, sliced it strait down the middle and iodine dipped for like 5 minutes. Now (8 months + later) I have two toadstools both like 4 inches across lol; all I did to mount mine when they were that small was a tiny bit of gel super glue to the tip of the base until it solidified then dropped it in.

I had some kenya tree I tried the toothpick trick on 2 times and it just basically rejected the toothpick and split into 3 pieces. I also tried rubberbanding it to the rock which didn't work either.

Final solution was to superglue the base of it to the rock (3 separate pieces). Ironically it held, but overtime it moved off the superglue to the side and is now attached right beside where it was glued in 3 spots. I also have 3 kenya trees now lol.

So just ziptie it to a rock or something?

I just rubberband them to the place ai want them to stay. I have also taken a needle and thread and used that to tie it down. Just placing it will prolly not help you....you have to affix them for a couple weeks in one locale to prevent what you got going on right now.

Doing great man, hope you can come by sometime and check it out!

I got mine from Jhahn as a trade and I mounted it by getting the smallest little edge tied down with a rubber band. I didn't poke it with anything and it attached itself within the first week. BTW place it in a low flow area afterwards.
