So I have been plagued with this mystery slime in my sump and some in my dt. I did a lot of reading and it seems like it is a bacterial bloom from voc's/ air fresheners in my house. If any one is experiencing this issue let me know.

From what I have read it will go away on its own but it takes some time. Dr. Tim's refresh seems to take care of it rather quickly followed by Dr. Tims waste away. If any one has any input let me know.

Blooms can happen. I've seen a couple that looked like clear/whitish snot (sorry)...

You mentioned air fresheners - if you have some in close proximity to the tank, I'd remove them. They can cause all kinds of problems, up to and including poisoning your inhabitants.

I've seen scented oil atomizers wipe out a tank. If it's in the air, it's in the tank. The surface of the water is the lungs of the tank, where gases are exchanged. You don't want toxins and potentially harmful chemicals getting into the tank.

Thanks Jenn, it's the fiancé that sprays things constantly. There is nothing anywhere near the tank. Got her trying some natural non spray methods now thankfully. You know how non reefers are lol. Thanks again for the pointers!

I occasionally dose microbacter7 bacteria culture at wc and if I over dose it a little I wake up to snot trails like slugs crawled over the rocks.
Id say your rite on the bacteria bloom

+1 bacteria bloom.

Why I say this is when I originally dosed vitamin c in my tank it killed off all forms of algae, that algae released many different forms of nutrients into the water. Since the algae was unable to grow n consume the nutrients this allowed the beneficial bacteria to grow and consume the nutrients. Which creates white/snotty stuff which is a colony of bacteria.

Long story short. You have extra nutrients that your system can't keep up with so there for your bacteria on your live rock went nuts.

How you can solve this problem is:

add chaeto or mangroves
Bigger CuC
Feed less
Bigger protein skimmer

Thanks for the input I just got a new diablo xs 200 but it is just now getting broke in and pulling gunk. One thing that did recently happen is my brs dual reactor stopped flowing. Had to take all the sponges out and modifiy the little plastic things to increase the flow. Put new media in it and it seemed to work. I also have cheato growing but no mangroves, would like to start mangroves but I run a bb fuge. Is there anyway to grow mangroves in a bb?

Feeding has prob been the culprit, I always feel like the fish never get enough to eat. I am going to cut back on feeding. I feed pellets then nori the next day and so on. Everything is looking great as of last night, practically no more slime. Water is crystal clear, reactor and skimmer are doing work. seems to have fixed itself pretty quickly..
