I currently am wanting to upgrade but I dont know what I want to do. Basically I have a 20gallon long tank that I can use for free but I really like cubes. However not the biocubes(been there done that).

So long story short, Im trying to decide between a 20gallon long(Possibly a standard 29gallon) or a 30 Gallon cube. The 20 gallon long would be a lot cheaper by far, since I have it sitting around, I probably could find a good deal on a standard 29 as well.

Out of the options, what tank do you like better? I can never make my mind up so this is why Im posting.

BTW: I will NOT be hooking up a sump to either of these tanks. I rent and do not what the fear of a flood in the back of my mind.

I'd say it depends what you're looking to put in there. 20 long provides more lateral room for fish to swim and 30 cubes do look awesome with some coral and a few non swimmy fish (some clowns, blennies, gobys etc)

do you have renters ins?

a sump is so much easier. it adds more volume and allows you to hide all the ugly stuff in the tank.

I'm not doing a sump. I've had sumps on my previous tanks and I liked them but I don't want the hassle of a possible flood, even with renters insurance. In the future when i get a bigger tank again, I will get a sump. Not now though.

Have you considered a 40 breeeder? I was looking at a 20L and decided on the 40B sinc it offered more room to set the tank up as an all in one, no sump.
