I feel your pain, like I just told you about my sixline but he was actually my very first fish. :shout:

Yes...place him in a bag with the water and place it in the freezer. He will go in peace...really.

I won't look down on you for doing it bro, Coolsurf is probably right I've heard of a that one time.

I remember the thread like yesterday. It was about a guy that had a lionfish that went blind. He was asking us if his led stunners might have done it to him. I remember he put the fish in the freezer. lemme see if I can find it.

I think this is it.

Did the LFS catch him in a net... Or a clear container? The net could have really freaked him out.

I just did the deed... this little guy had so much will but i cant see him suffer

Edit: It was a net

Umm, it's a puffer. Bag is a bad idea I think. Maybe a plastic container...I hate that I just had to say that. I am so sorry Kris.

I did a little googling earlier using Puffer and Prolapse as my search term. Most of what I found was rectal prolapse but I didn't post any links as you seemed to think it was his air bladder. If you say his intestine was also protruding, it might be rectal prolapse after all. Google that and see what you get - might be too late for this specimen but again - it's an opportunity to learn.

What a way to lose a fish. I'm sorry to hear that.

It's been a while since I've seen an lfs use a net... when you go back, insist that they use a plastic container.

I just had to put down one of my males from a breeding pair of South American dwarf cichlids the same way. I hated to do it, but it was best for the fish in the end.

Yeah. Even me a hobbist catch my fish by hand 90% of the time. Or i use a Clean container. I go later today to try to get my new one.

My puffer died of a prolapsed colon, never good. I wouldnt have left the LFS with a puffed up puffer personally, Im surprised they released it.

Ive heard of people chopping the heads off the fish, cutting at a specific angle so it dies instantly and doesnt suffer. Im likely not going to try it.
