I can confirm @FutureInterest . A Yoga mat wouldn't hurt, but its not going to function as a shim as you think it will. It will get crushed completely flat.
I'm slightly confused by your post. It seems like you are trying to put a shim between your stand and your tank. Traditionally, most people, myself included, shim between the floor and the stand.

Throwing out ideas just to confuse you..... what about floor leveling compound, like Durham's Rock Hard putty. It's not pretty to look at but if its under the tank no one will see it.
