Well ,I now have my 2x250w MH mogul base lumen max fixtures, size 15"x15" x 4-1/2 deep. My plans are to add 2 x exotic led strip lights 12" (from marine depot) along the sides to supplement. The only problem is i need these fixtures in a frame that i can adjust up and down from 12 " to 16 " above the water level suspended from ceiling. I will be removing my hood completely. the fixtures have mounting brackets on the top to mount . my tank is a deep 28" and only 18" wide. 4 ft long. right now I only have 4 t-5 's mounted in the hood . does anyone have any DIY frame plans or factory retro kits i can purchase??

Hi Jerry, Welcome To ARC! Sorry we can't help you with your question, we don't have any experience with that yet. When we do our MH in the future we plan to either hang them from the ceiling or build a rack for them. Currently we are leaning toward hanging them from the ceiling. If you find yourself near Lawrenceville, give us a call and come on by! :D Holley & Hal

have you seem the bike pulley system? you use 3 block and takle pulleies and a crank. you add it to the frame where the lights are mounted and rasie and lower.

I would use this stuff

as it will bolt together and you can drill it fairly easily and put in eye bolts to hang it with and I like the idea above from eagle9252 using the bike pulley system to raise and lower it.

Thanks for posting. I used to sell that stuff about 12-15 years ago. It was a LOT more epensive then.

Thanks folks, great ideas, now its time for me to go 4 it. Eagle do you have a pic of how you use the bike pulley?

It super simple. You take the fixed end and mount to the ceiling. Bring it down to a single pulley mounted to the light frame. You go back up to the hook where another single pulley is. You then go across the top to another pulley; this one’s a double pulley. Then down to the other side of the light frame to a single pulley and then back up to the other side of the double pulley. Then its where ever you want to raise and lower. The below picture shows single pulley's used.

You can make a simple hook setup like on a flag pole or you can put a small crank like on the front of boat trailers.

Below is some reference info.

A block and tackle[1][2] is a system of two or more pulleys with a rope or cable threaded between them, usually used to lift or pull heavy loads.
The pulleys are assembled together to form blocks so that one is fixed and one moves with the load. The rope is threaded, or reeved, through the pulleys to provide mechanical advantage that amplifies that force applied to the rope.[3] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Block_and_tackle">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Block_and_tackle</a>

Edit: the more loops you make the lighter the load gets.
