I was going to buy a Reef Keeper today..

I dont know which way to go...Im willing to spend $300 and was looking at the RKL but I know theres different levels... I could really use input...this is what I have a use for

JBL ATO
2 New Koralias Id like on Wave timer
My Lights have their own built in timer so not needed
PH Probe
Temp Probe
Would like to start dosing my Tank for SPS and LPS (Calc etc.)

I will be moving from the 30 cube to either a 60 or 90 cube within 6 months

Please give opinions

Russ, this will probably not help, but only confuse even more. I have a RKII on my frag system and an Apex Neptune on my 120G system and while there are some interface things I like about the RKII better, overall for ease of use, set up, programming and flexibility, I prefer the Apex Neptune.

I don't have a RK Elite and have never used one, so I can't compare it at all.

Not confusing...Jenn just talked about the apex...who carries them (sponsor)

Wow..is it me or are they a LOT more $$$

Well, you could get the RKL Level 3, buy their float switch kit and a MJ-600 for ATO use, and sell the JBJ (or keep for a future tank).

+1, this is what I did and I am realy happy with the RKL L3 + Float switches. Keen Reef stocks them and prices them same as online....nice!

What do you need answered.

The RKL L3 will control 8 outlets: 4 of them are for devices with "poor power factors" like MJ or aqualifter pumps, LEDs, etc. These are channels 1 and 4 on the PC-4 unit. The SL1 will monitor pH and ORP, and allow you to control something (or multiple things) based on that reading. It also has 2 switch inputs. These can be used for float switches, or anything else you want to "switch". For example, you could install a pressure switch in the cabinet and plug in some under cabinet lights in the PC-4, and have the lights turn on when you open the cabinet doors.

You are left with the ability to add one more module to the RKL, be it a NET, SL2, PC4, whatever you need. The important thing is to list out what you would like controlled, and how you want it controlled.

For example, I currently am out of space on my PC-4's. I'd like to get another and have my skimmer controlled by the RKL so I can put it on a delay upon startup.
