So I'm starting over on the little tank in my daughter's room. It's a 37 gallon tall, and I plan on just keeping softies and a couple of clowns for her to to look at. Question:

This tank is not drilled, and I really don't want to run a HOB with a sump, etc. The first time I had it up and running I used a canister filter just to be able to run carbon. Would I be better off just leaving that off? I've never run a tank where water wasn't being pulled out and through something. Just water in the tank itself moving with powerheads? I had massive algae problems the last time!

You'll need something to pull out waste (or lots of WC), and a canister is better than nothing, plus it increases the water flow. You could also try a HOB but they typically have even less draw than a can. Either will need power heads most likely to draw waste up from the lower parts of the tank where waste builds.

im taking down a non drilled 37g cube right now, i ran a rena xp3 canister and a remora hob skimmer. im about to post both fs, if either interests u shoot me a pm

Your PM box is full. Are you selling the actual tank or just the accessories?
