My tank has reached a new low and I'm ready to step in to try and fix it but need some help on where to start.
First back story.
Tank was doing really well up until April when, school and life got busy and tank went to the back burner, then I just didn't want to deal with it over summer.
Water checks out fine just the basics; pH, nitrate, nitrite, calcium, alkalinity, temp 77.5 which most stable it's been since I put on a temp controlled fan.
The biggest most frustrating issue has been my acan, they look really good when my lights are on tentacles out and puffed up. At night the total opposite the tissue has pulled off and skeleton has been slowly shrinking. And now a brown algae is slowly smothering some of them!
First thought nipping, but they are in my sump with no fish so that's out.
Pests- I don't know of anything that just feeds on acan/LPS and haven't seen anything on corals.
Lighting- it's 2 24 watt t5 bulbs and been like this for almost 3 years. 1 bulb is 7ish months don't know the other. But would that cause issues at night?
Feeding- I target them about once a week with homemade food that I feed to the whole tank.
Other issue lack of anything on acros. They just seem to be taking up space no real color and minimal polyp extension.
The only thing that has shown real growth are a couple of mangroves the were added in March.
Thoughts?? Could really uses some help so I don't loose anything else.
