SURE, let me know. As you can, see I'm in the market.

Wineman;561945 wrote: Great dimensions on the tank!!!! Lots of real estate for corals. What other equipment do you have running your systems???? and more pics ASAP!!!!

Well I don't have all that stuff that you see in those Big Tank build threads. I have to admit, I just found this website and saw a lot of the big tank threads and said..... OH NO... I need that much more stuff????

At the moment I have about a 50 gallon sump, C-Skim 1800 skimmer and a 36 Watt Turbo Twist UV. I'm learning as I go so in time a lot more will be added I'm sure.

Thanks.... Yours was the first Big Tanks build thread I checked out. I learned alot. Thanks for all the time and effort in documenting and posting so many pix. I would love to see it for real one day.

I've got this monster in my living room so making it thrive is very important to me. I'd love to hit you up for advice from time to time as i get more stuff and add more volume of water. I've got a utility room directly behind the tank so the sky's the limit.

I'm jealous! :D

It actually has three levels of sand:

2 inch deep front
6 inch deep 2nd level
12 inch deep rear level

I constructed barriers from acrylic squares. Drilled all the corners and binded them together with plastic tie straps. You know, liked like a chain. I then cut out a shape of 1/2 inch acrylic the sits flat on the 6 inch layer and proturdes forward and is braced in the front with a clear acrylic rod. All the mass you see is actually levels of sand with rocks covering up the acrylic walls. This also gives me a huge cave in the middle that you can see into very easily. Also this allows for sand dwelling creatures to be all over the tank instad of just at the bottom. Still had to use about 800 lbs of live rock.

A Buddy of mine had a pet store and he kept sharks at his house in it. I got it for a steal. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. I bought it almost 3 years ago. It took me a while to reinforce the floor, retile the floor , remount all the TV's and rearrange all the furniture, build the base and put in new wiring. All that was easy though. Moving it was a nightmare.

Welcome!
I bet moving it was a nightmare but what a reward!
Is you buddy helping you out with purchasing healhy tankmates? Getting and keeping one ribbon eel is amazing, but 3 ghosts and a blue! Wow! I really want to see them. Can you get any feeding shots in the next few days? That would make my week bro

I'm just shopping around for the fish. I've found I really enjoy spending a saturday going to different LFS's to see what's available. Any opinion on the best in town for fish or coral? I've been to many but i see on the map here of sponsors that there are quite a few more.

The ghost eels eat no problem as long as they can find the food (usually chopped silversides). It can be right in front of them and they'll miss it half the time. The blue eel is a little different. He preferres you to give it to him. I sware I don't know how they make it in the wild. They are very timid. They let anything take their food away from them even if it's already in his mouth. I'll try to get some shots.

Yeah.....check out my link in my sig....there's a few crappy cell phone pics of my tank a little while ago....there's more stuff now and everythings much larger....mostly....still wouldn't take up any space in your tank though.....probably could put everything from mine in yours and never even notice it....haha

Lots of nice coral. I haven't had any luck with stony corel yet in my 125g. Still learning though.....

Thats a big freakin tank!! Nice man glad to see you joined as well, cant wait to see this monster full of colorfull coral.

Welcome, very nice tank IMO if you want great coral growth in a tank with those dementions lighting would be ten 250mhs with bulbs 14k to 20k or four plasmas. You could probably get away with six 400mhs 24" above the water with really good reflectors, with the 400s I'd use 20k bulbs

Wow, I think I'm officially speachless... your tank is gorgeous and the stock list, wow that's a lot of fish!

Yes, I was suprised to see I had already joined 4 years ago. That's when I first started with saltwater. I went around and joined several saltwwater forums (like a lot of people probably do) but never came back. I was using my buddy that had a pet store for all my advise.
