I just paid my membership!!! Now what... I'm starting my first reef tank. It's going to be 29 gallon. So far all I have are the lights, tank and skimmer. I'm hoping to get the LR and water into it by the end of the month.

Welcome to the club! Its always nice to have a new member. How much experience do you have with saltwater tanks?

I have no saltwater experience. I had a cichlid tank last year, but I am now in college and it was too big to bring with me. But I am moving into Fraternity house where I can set up my 29 gallon again. I have the CurrentUSA 24" 4 bulb t5h0 light and an aquac remora with maxijet 1200 and prefilter box. I am going to get a koralia either 1 or 2. Which would be better for my size tank? I have a cheap heater left over from my freshwater tank and a couple API HOB filters. Do I need to use the HOB? I wasn't planning on it.

What's purigen? And i would like a very brightly colored tank. But I know I can't keep SPS with my setup. I really like the bright zoas and frogspawn. So far the eagle eyes are my favorite. What are some bright softies and LPS?

So I got my aquac remora from dawgdude today. Thanks! One thing though...It smells terrible. Is having a reef tank in my room going to make it smell bad?

No I haven't set it up yet. That was just the skimmer that smelled. I think it's just because it was dried out residue. I am hoping to set it up this weekend. I'm going to get the LR and salt Saturday. And possibly the power heads. How do I get RO water from Publix? Do they have a container I can buy? Or where would i find one of those blue 5 gallon jug things for an office?

Run some diluted vinegar through it to clean it out.
