Definitely read! I researched for a year or so before I got in and I still have tons to learn. Also, don't be afraid to ask a question no matter how silly it sounds. Just do as earth first lol. This is an awesome club full of members willing to help out but the greatest resource IMO is the search button. Many folks have helped me without been knowing it! Having a good book or two as a resource is recommended as well. Makes good "library" material too.

Thanks
How many pounds of rock would I needs for a 100 gallon tank?

Recommendations seem to vary widely. The more porous the rock though the lighter it is while still being as effective, if not more, than a similarly sized denser rock. Keep in mind I'm still a relative nub in this hobby but I'd say 75-100lbs of good rock. With really porous rock you may be a little light and that's ok.

Put some thought into this. It's not just x pounds of rock. You need to consider your rock scape. Do you want branches, shelf, or just a wall? Do you want any "bonsai" style pillars?

For my biocube I just bought rock and pieced something together. In the end I didn't leave much space for corals. Look at people's build threads to get some ideas. Read up on the different types of rock available too.
