I am getting closer to building my new tank. I now have 2 options and I want your opinions. Which one would you choose?

Choice #1: 233 GAL.

72L x 30W x 25T center overflow. This is just a standard reef ready tank with one center overflow.

Choice #2: 227 GAL.
72L x 27W x 27T with Bean animal over flow. http://www.beananimal.com/projects/silent-and-fail-safe-aquarium-overflow-system.aspx">http://www.beananimal.com/projects/silent-and-fail-safe-aquarium-overflow-system.aspx</a>

And like this tank. [IMG]http://www.reefsavvy.com/75ba.html">http://www.reefsavvy.com/75ba.html</a>

I like choice 1 because of the width, and it not being as tall! It just seems it's harder for corals to get as much light in taller tanks!

I vote for choice 1, but with 2 overflows, equally positioned on the back wall.

I agree or choice one with the second choice overflow. When you start getting much more than 24 inches it gets hard to reach the bottom plus I like tanks that are deeper front to back

I am limited to space where this is going to go. I can not have it any more than 32 inches out from the wall. That is why to do the bean animal overflow I have to narrow the tank a little. It adds about 4 inches to the tank. Also I will be putting LEDs over this tank. Thank you for your replies and comments. Keep them coming.

Edit:

Why 2 overflows?

Thank you Bruce

I don't think the two inches will make that much difference in height. If you don't really want it that deep, just make you sand bed a little deeper.

I'd take the one made of glass if they both aren't.

I'd set up #1 with Herbie drains (Two drains in the overflow. One full siphon, the other for insurance)

I like the tank drilled in the bottom because I can get at the plumbing. With #2, once the tank is in place, it will be tough to get at the plumbing if you can't get behind the tank.

What are herbie drains?

Thanks again.

I agree with those that said the dimensions of tank 1 with the overflow of tank 2, if that's a possibility. If not, tank 2.

tank 2definitly. It has best drainage systen and with tank 1 by the time you get the overflows in the tank you loose most of the added depth.
