Hello Everyone,

After a lot of research and some trial and error I believe I'm starting to scratch the surface of the enjoyment and frustrations of having a nice reef aquarium. I look forward to getting involved in the forums, meeting some people and hopefully learning a lot more about this wonderful obsession.

A quick question for everyone... I currently have a 29g with about 40lbs of live rock and 30lbs of live sand. I currently have a tomato clown but would like to add something else. Any suggestions?

I look forward to seeing everyone's suggestions, Thanks in advance.:D

Welcome to ARC!

As far as what else to add, it really depends on what you like. There are plenty of fish that would be great. In my nano, I have a yellow watchman goby, a yellow clown goby, a sixline wrass and a chromis. That's in a 24g aquapod.

Big thumbs up on a yellow watchman goby great fish! I would add some sort of shrimp. Also bi-color blennies are alot of fun to watch and are pretty.

Welcome.... I am right down the road from you, so if there is anything that you need just ask, if you want to see my two tanks to get some ideas, you are more then welcome. I have a 40 gal and a 55 gal tank.

I have a tomato clown in my new 40 gal along with a yellow clown goby, a damsel, and a huge diamond goby. I second the suggestion of a bi-colored blenny (I am getting one for my 40) and a yellow watchman. You also could go with a 6 line, neon goby, I love my jaw fish... Take a look here to get some ideas of good "nano" fish: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/scateg.cfm?pCatId=2124">http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/scateg.cfm?pCatId=2124</a>

Again, welcome...

Welcome to the club.

I have a 20 gallon with the following in it:

1 false perc clownfish (had two but the female committed suicide*)
1 royal gramma
1 yellow watchman goby
1 randalli pistol shrimp - partnered up with the watchman goby**
1 skunk cleaner shrimp
1 fish soon to be had - either a cherub angel or a sixline wrasse

* use a fish containing apparatus on the top of the tank to prevent suicide attempts. eggcrate flourescent lighting grids from HD or Lowe's works well

** if you are going to get a yellow watchman goby, or any other watchman goby, get a pistol shrimp to go with it. Introduce the goby first to let him claim a burrow. Then, a week or so later, introduce the shrimp. I put mine in a shot glass and lowered it to the bottom on the tank. I "aimed" his release towards the goby's burrow. If you don't plan ahead with the introduction of the shrimp and goby, they might not partner up. One might live in burrow a and one in burrow b.

This is only an example, there are many cool fish that can be put in a nano tank.

Thanks for all the welcome messages and suggestions! I've always liked the looks of the yellow watchman gobies. I might have to go pick one up.

Thanks again!
