I been lurking around saltwater tanks for about 3 months and I finally have my tank up and running. Figured I would list what I have and what my plans are for the tank and hopefully get some good ideas and thoughts from you guys. I purchased this tank a couple days after christmas from atlweb from this forum. So I added a lot of stuff to the tank and want to make sure I am on the right path.

Equipment list
50g starfire rimless aquarium made by cadlights
bubble magnus protein skimmer (rated for 200g tank)
return pump
custom 20g sump/fuge made to fit skimmer
sump light
live sand
25lbs of live rock
150w jaeger heater
digital thermometer
Brs reactor running carbon and gfo mj1200 pump
2 mp10w running reef crest mode
Ecotech radion xr30w
Jbj ato
Tunze small powerhead in skimmer chamber (good idea? seems like the water wasn't moving much)
1 snowflake clownfish
Some zoanthids
Reef Cleaners CUC

Water quality
Temp 79
Salinity 1.026
Ammonia 0
Nitrates 0
Nitrites 0
PH 8
Alk 11
Cal 420
Phoshates 0
Mag 1375

I have about 30 BRS dry pukani and dry shelf rock curing in a garbage can so there will be more rock to come.

My goal for this tank is mostly zoanthids, and chalice. Maybe a few pieces of SPS but not much. I keep reading about SPS likes clean tanks while zoanthids and chalice like dirty water. I am not quite sure about how this is accomplished? Over feeding? less frequent water changes?

Nice setup!! I would take the power head out of the skimmer chamber. You don't need much flow for the skimmer, it will pull more junk with slower flow.

++1No need for the powerhead in the skimmer section. Not sure how the flow makes a difference for skimmer performance though.
