Hey guys ive had a pair of O's clowns for well over 2 years now.

I was told when i got them they were roughly a year old and have pretty much been together for some time before I got them. So a guestimation of about 3 years old or round about that. They fought for a little bit about a year ago but nothing too bad.

The female got a good size larger than the male which i know is normal.

They have always swam together and gotten along. For the past year off and on I have noticed the little twiching dances sometimes the female does it a lot of times the male does it.

Then for the longest time they just swam around the tank and showed no type of intrest with each other until the last few days.

They have been fighting a lot, i noticed tonight when I got home the male looked roughed up a little bit nothing as bad as i have seen before but enough for me to be concerned.

I observed them and the female kept nipping then twiching and chasing around the male. The male is being submissive but the female seems to just keeping attacking non the less.

I understand this is normal in a new pair that is fighting for territory or when they are trying to decide for the role of who is going to be female but i found it odd for a pair who has been together 3 years to all of the suddon start fighting.

Should I seperate them or put the male in a breeder net?

Some of my females still beat up their males, after years of spawning. I wouldn't separate them unless he really gets beat up.

Almost a "sick" right of passage amongst clowns that the females always beat up the males despite the "paired/marriage" aspect.

yah i have had a few pair over the years this is the first pair ive had that have exhibited continued abuse after they had bonded. So far the male seems no worse just a lil peeved lol.. but hes put up with her this long
