I really don't want an RODI unit, but trips to the grocery store for water are getting monotonous.

Any thoughts on this?

Basically just a resin filter - will exhaust quickly, but does what we would want it to do, yes...

I was tempted to get the Rv Ro units. They worked great in the past and cheap.

Good Ro units can be had for $100 or less, just get one.

for the little bit of price difference mine has paid for itself many times over just not having to lug 5g jugs in and out of the car...

I got it used from a member here with the TDS meter for a great price.

The hard 1/4" line and connectors are so dirt cheap at home depot you should be able to do the whole project for 80-100 bucks..

replacement filters are basically $15/ea...

get a cheap 50gpd portable RODI for less than $70 on ebay...
