Outdrsyguy's 940 gallon DT Build

You might have said something elsewhere in the thread, but what do you plan on doing for the back of the tank? Are you going to leave it clear?

Looking good Rusty. Yes, it's hard to get a feel for the size of this in pics, even with the tank above making the boxes of salt look puny.

Will the structure in the back left of the tank be above the waterline? It looks higher than the overflow. And whats your plan for powerhead placement?

Top left will crest the waterline by about 1/2". I can take the top 2" rock off if it becomes an issue. I plan on putting 5 penductors on each side and creating a gyre in each direction with a valve changing rotation direction every so often. Top left structure is to hide overflow piping somewhat and for aesthetics.

Back of the tank will have a hand painted backdrop which I will hang like a curtain behind the tank and front light it. Something like the shadow box effect that's been done a few times. I have high hopes for the effect of depth and realism. Also put the channel in the middle of the aquascape front to back to highlight the "off into the deep blue" effect.

Getting close to water time! I'm calculating having to leave the faucet on for 5 days and 20 hours
Oh and here's the tunnel I made that runs the full length of the tank. The kids are gonna love it. Such a cool view.

Water is on baby!!!!! Over a year in the making! Wish it wasn't 1 am, I want to just sit and watch it fill for a few hours!!
Water on at 12:40 am Sunday morning.
Should be roughly an inch of water every 5 hours. Wife is dragging me mountain biking in the morning so gotta hit the sack!

Stayed up late to watch hehe!!!
Better view of the tunnel with shadows for the arches and water starting to reflect in the sand.

Lol I feel pretty good about the tank but I was worried my sump pump that pumps the waste up to the sewer piping above would fail. Crazy fear that it would be over worked and stop working. I really need to get one of this rodi leak detectors that automatically stops flow at the valve on a leak.

Looking great! Adam is right, it is fun to see it being filled.

Also, I like the idea of the shadow box background. When it is done right, it looks awesome!

So close I can taste it! I think I'm finally going to turn off the faucet and start adding salt and see if that tops it off.

19 bags of salt so far. 16 had me at 1.020 so hoping I'll be good when I test in the morning. Late night plumbing! Night all ;)
