So I have an algae problem...
(yes, Ralph - change GFO more often and up the water changes, I know...)

This brown leafy stuff is the bane of my existence, I scrub it, pull it, change water, add more and more GFO, trying bio pellets and NOTHING even phases this $&@#%.

I am 90% sure it is Peysonnelia and looks just like this:

(2nd pic after the "keep pruning" one)

Anyone had success at removing this somehow?
Known predators?

Isn't there some magical bryopsis eating scopas tang floating around the club? I bet he'd eat it!

Are you opposed to trying a tang from the acanthurus family?

He doesn't, and he's dead - and by my great grand fathers grave - I saw him eat it...

Edit:

I am algae free....

is it calcareous algae like Undotea?

Undotea was my plague until Bryopsis....

By destroying bryopsis, I destroyed Undotea...that is until a month ago...

anyway, I found a few fans after a few years clean, but no Bryopsis!

there is no cure....only....
1. Change GFO weekly and check using Hach or DD Merck
2. Check trates using Tropic Marin or other low range and insure under 0.5...use vodka or vinegar dosing if not.....add bacteria
3. remove any rock feasable and dose with H2O2 for 10 minutes or more
4. replace any rock with fresh rock cleaned with H2O2
5. dose any area with H2O2 and Kalk after fishy are asleep to kill algae

good luck!

Thanks Ralph,

Glad we both know now how to take and make a joke...

It is not calcareous, and resembles lettuce really closely.
Spreads/encrusts over the rocks, and then forms lettuce heads...
