So' I cleaned out my gfo reactor today and notice a lot of gunk collected at the bottom. I'm wondering if this could be a reason for my unhappy corals... (or at least one reason) the gfo was still tumbling pretty good so water flow shouldn't have been a problem. Thoughts?

This for me to thinking about where to put my reactor...I had it in my first sump chamber with the drain (with filter sock). The filtersock should have caught the nasty stuff, but overflowing socks and no sock from time to time releases the gunk to the chamber. I've moved the reactor to my last chamber with the return. I figure it should take longer to bet gummed up there. The water passes through a filtersock, live rock, Skimmer chamber, and then a filter pad before finally being returned. Good move?

One negative that I can think of is that the gfo dust is more likely to reach the DT because it is released and immediately shot up to the DT. I'm sure some of it makes it to the DT regardless, but probably more so now, to some degree.

I have mine in the first chamber so the output of it and the carbon both run into the filter sock as well.

I have the output for my gfo/carbon reactors going into my bubble trap which is between the fuge and return sections of my sump.

You could have the pump to the reactor in the return section but run the out put back to the filter sock.
