powerhead comparison study

I ran into this article and wanted to share. Very interesting conclusion about the Tunze powerheads. Also strange that the Vortech MP10's outdid themselves coming close to the output of the MP40. I've ordered 2 MP40's for my 155g but now I'm wondering whether I can just use the MP10's instead.

Mp10 is limited to how thick of glass it can penetrate as well

You're right, 3/8 max on the MP10 and 3/4 on the MP40. My tank is 1/2 so I will need to stay with the MP40.

I do not think that there is an upgraded magnet. If so then the would not sale as mant 40. They would dale more. 10 with magnet upgrade

I guess I didn't make it clear. I'm also in the market for MP40's but first thought I could get away with MP10's which I now know won't be the case because of the glass thickness issue. I have MP40W ES's on backorder with Aquacave (their phone line issue has been resolved) and they gave me a 10% discount when I ordered over the July 4th weekend sale.

Thanh might be selling two of them, I would PM him and ask him. He wants to upgrade to mp60's.
