Well I know this is not Reef Related but I have had a hard couple weeks finding out my Mom at the age of 63 has Stage 3 B Lung Cancer. She has smoked for 45 + years and I knew it would cause Cancer but it still hurts when the reality sinks in. She has stopped now and with Help from the Dr. we are looking at best treatment option with a team of Doctors this Week and Start the road of Cancer treatment. The Dr said without treatment 6 mth to 1 yr and with if it helps shrink tumors it could help her get another 3-5 years. Whewww it just seem like 63 is was to short.

Please put my Mom ( Sue Mortimer) and my Family in your prayers.
This Club has a great group of people in it and I am very glad ( honoured ) that I am in it and will be for many many years

Man. Hate to hear this, but you are on the right track. If it's any consolation, the most grave situations sometimes turn around. I had a co-worker diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer 5 years ago, and the Dr. gave him the same diagnosis. He's still alive and kicking it as we speak...

My GF's mother also overcame cancer with the same diagnosis...

You, Ms. Sue Mortimer, and your family are most definetely in my prayers!!! Just be strong and show support, even when she is sad... Sometimes support is one of the best medicines...

Thank you very much I keep telling myself that things change and just because they said few years I am hoping for much more but trying to keep from getting over whelmed right off the bat. There is so much info and stuff to hear and do and but sometimes I have to take a break and just check out the fish and mess around in the tanks

Shane, my mom recently beat breast cancer and told me that a support group helps a lot. My prayers are with you and your family.

We will be thinking of your mom and your family Shane! There is a new Cancer center here in Newnan that has just opened. It's apart of the Cancer Research Centers, keep of of her options open and seek other opinions as you guys see fit. Should you guys need "anything" drop me a pm! Kennysaw (as my Mom called it) isn't that far away! Take care, Hutch

Yeah 63 does seem young..my dad died a few years back at 66 from a massive heart attack..thought I can't wait till I retire to do that but you never know..Prayers going up..

Thoughts and prayers for your family during this difficult time.

Lost my father in '07 to lung cancer. Unfortunately it wasn't found until it was stage 4, he was 57.

Shane, you and your family are most definitely in my prayers. While I know you will strong enough to give her the support she needs, don't forget you need some too. Take the time to work on the tank or hang with your wife and kids. Let them be your rejuvenation outlet. And you know, all you have to do I say the word and a group of us will be there to help in any way.

At the moment, I am going through a tough time as well. We lost my Father-in-Law Saturday night. As much as it hurts, I know that the sun will rise again and my focus is on my wife, my children and my Mother-in-Law. No matter the outcome, all of us needs to cherish the time we have with each other in the now and let God worry about tomorrow.

I know God has a plan for my mom and I can only pray and do my best now and let God watch over us.

Shane I'm so sorry to hear this. I've been going thru the same thing with my dad who stopped smoking 30 years ago. He has stage 2 small cell (which is the fastest growing and worst kind). I've been with him thru it all and read so much information. The doctor said just last week, it is beatable!
Stay strong, research, go with her if you can to all her appointments to help remember what's said. There is so much information it's hard for one or two people to comprehend and remember or take fast enough notes when they speak. Ask questions if you don't understand something, HELP HER FIGHT!
She needs your strength. Ill PM you my number, please call me if you like.
Praying hard.
