As luck would have it my power went out (luckily less than 2hrs) but the generator I just bought easily kept my tank up with all accessories. Hopefully I don’t need it again. Thanks to OP for the nudge to buy one.
A good power station is something everyone should look into also. Mine stays hooked up all the time and will over an outage for about 13 hours for the return to stay on. With powerheads and heaters also it will last about 3-4 hours. Its only a 1000kwh one. They have sales all the time if you watch for a deal on one via amazon

Which one did you get?
I’m thinking about getting and setting up a battery station. What I can’t figure it out is how to integrate it with an Apex so that I still have the functionality of the apex but the battery supply will kick on automatically if power goes out.
I haven’t setup one. But my understanding is you need a power transfer switch (to automatically go from power grid to battery backup). Something like this:
I mean you could wire your own up if you know what youre doing. I would think you could get some ct's and rib relays. Once the line voltage drops out, the ct's would measure that and would switch to auxiliary power. The control circuit would need to be powered from the the standby source. It would essentially work like a UPS without any sine wave filtering.
