So I saw this article on another thread about pressure locking sump baffles:

I thought it sounded like a good idea, so I decided to give it a try. Horrible idea! The stupid baffles will not stay in place. Not even with the sump full, and forget about just trying to fill one chamber. Nor can I ever imagine them holding under the pressure of the sand in my fuge.

Has anyone else tried this? Please help, I'm beyond frustrated at this point.

I actually used it last night as a temporary solution to seal 1 side of my sump, so I could add a piece in the "dry part". My cut was perfect. Don't try this at home kids. Doesn't work. I would up just emptying my whole sump & fuge. Oh well!

Yeah...I almost did it too.
I remember finding that article. It looks like a great idea...simple too. I would imagine there is not much margin of error on cutting the baffles though. I would think the key to success would be a very tight fit.

I still like the idea!

But I chickened out...and went traditional.

I have a few in my sump that are holding. they are about 1 inch off the bottom so there is not much pressure on them. You just have to make sure you get the piece cut right

I have also used this in my sump after seening the article but just a small baffle to direct water flow and I used airtubing and cut it down one side slide over the ends and a dab of superglue to hold them. When it was dry I put it in very tight fit thats the key...

I definitely cannot recommend this method. The baffle holding water in my skimmer chamber is cut so tight I could barely get it in and it still will not hold if water gets low in the middle chamber. Now I have to re-cut new pieces of acrylic to silicone in. What a waste of money!
