PTreef’s 610g build

Since last update, had some ups and downs but mostly ups. All but 3 (of 12) of my orange anthias have died/disappeared. So there’s a good chunk of wasted cash not to mention the lives of the fish. But on the other hand, I’ve added the other 17 fish I had waiting in my previous tank.

Current stock list:

Hippo tang
Achilles tang
Orange shoulder tang
4x yellow tang
Chevron tang
Powder blue tang
Powder brown tang
Tomini tang
Blonde naso tang
Desjardini sailfin tang
Foxface
Flame angel
Lawnmower blenny
Pair of snowflake clowns
Pair of blue chromis
Zebra damsel
3 orange anthias

All previous corals of mine are now moved into the display/frag tank and doing great with minimal casualties.

Current equipment:
Display
4x 48” reefbreeder photon V2’s LEDs
2x 32” reefbreeder photon V2’s+ LEDS

2x maxspect gyre 280

1x 32” reefbreeder photon V2 LEDs
2x MP40w

Running jebao return pumps
BK3000 skimmer

Sorry about the anthias bro, I hope everything else works out. Good luck, and it's looking good.

Well lost all but a single anthias, and my powder brown started beating up on the powder blue suddenly. Luckily I was able to scoop up the blue and relocate him to my 120g frag tank and he’s been there about 2 weeks still swimming and healing up well. Otherwise the display is coming along and corals are settling in nicely. Here’s a full tank shot

I’ve been using the V2’s for about 4 years now, very happy with them. Got 2 of the V2+’s and I’ll probably upgrade the rest to them to match

Quick update: the tank has been going for approximately 7 months now since being empty. The system as a whole has been through plenty of rough patches but overall slow and steady progress. The cabinet is almost finished, all diy so I’m pleased with the turnout. I still have a lot I want to do before calling it finished. I’m considering adding a properly sized UV system, and will be needing more power heads in the future. Coral growth has been surprisingly good now that things are settling in, I’ll be looking for some nice sps frags soon to fill it!

The cabinet looks great. Love how the tnk is coming along.
My wife doesn't know it yet but our next choice of houses will be based on me getting a 200+ tank :)

That was part of my decision for buying this house! Nice open wall in the living room for an 11’ long tank lol

Gorgeous!! So jealous!!!

And as someone who literally just finished building a (much smaller!) stand yesterday, I truly understand and appreciate the effort you've obviously put in!

Update: corals and fish seem to be doing pretty good, some could be better. One thing I’ve been noticing with testing is that my alk has been low. Like really low. I was measuring at 4.7-4.9dkh consistently. I’ve been dosing daily 30ml. I thought it had to be a bad tester (brand new Hannah checker). So I eventually bought another one and now is measuring at 5.1dkh today. I’m almost tempted to still think it’s a bad test since corals are showing good colors (I’m sure my high end acros could look better) and all acros and other corals are growing quickly with good PE.

I also ordered another maxspect gyre fx280 to get a little more flow in the tank

I’ll be looking to add more fish soon!

Magnificent tank. I can't imagine the amount of work it took to get it this far. Please keep posting updates. I can't wait until your corals grow for another year.

Thank you! I’m hoping to keep this tank running for the next 5-10 years. When I eventually move, this tank might just have to stay here lol

That’s what I thought at first. I got scared when my PC rainbow colonies started showing signs of burnt tips so I thought maybe my alk was too high. I’ll plan on slowly upping it towards around 8dkh

Posted this pic in another thread so I figured I would add it here as well. The tank continues to do well and grow. I ended up adding 2x Reefbreeders RPM pumps. They advertise that the external magnet is 100% waterproof so I placed both pumps on the inner aspect of the overflow boxes pointed toward the middle of the tank. Still not enough flow but it’ll do for now. I’m pleased with the size and strength of these pumps, and can also say they didn’t have a problem holding through my 3/4” glass

I also got a fish QT system, so I will be looking to start adding more fish soon
