IMG_9562.jpegLooks like the seam issues aren’t exclusive to the gen 1. Started warranty claim.

Now to decide if I want to pay some money along with the glass credit and get a 425 since it’s eurobraced, or just take the replacement glass.

bye bye bye justin timberlake gif GIF

Update:
Approved.
I inquired about using it towards a g3 with the eurobrace. They offered 920 dollars off of MSRP. So 2495 plus tax, when it’s on sale for Black Friday for 3000. Yeah that’s a no from me dawg.

Gonna replace the glass, ride it out, and get a (non Red Sea) upgrade in a year or two

I thought(hoped) it was contained to gen 1, but searching through reef2reef, enough time has passed that the gen 2 are starting to show up.
Maybe the silicon they use? Floating front seam?
Besides not letting me upgrade for a song, I will say their support approved the replacement quickly so at least they have that part down

But here is my opinion: They should have offered you a completely new tank, regardless, just for the trouble of swapping tanks. Your time and money for all of this has to be compensated otherwise you are still in the red...

Yeah, im with you.
I get it from their pov. Just the display is damaged, therefore, warranty says to replace the damaged part. But that doesn’t take into account the possible livestock shock from moving, me taking a day off to do it, etc.

From a loyalty perspective though, giving me an upgrade at cost or slightly above means I would probably stay with them when my big upgrade comes. Now looks like I’ll be spending 7-10k with another company.

Short term mindset on their part
