Hey guys,

I have a brand new redsea reefer 500 that I never got a chance to setup until now. Looking through the forums has got me a bit scared. So many cases of tank failures. It seems like there is an unacknowledged design issue within the tank itself that Redsea has avoided dealing. Now that I'm in this situation, what do you guys suggest I do? Is there a way to fix the design issues in the tank itself? It would be awful to have to get rid of a brand new tank because the manufacture is trying to hide a design flaw. Thoughts? Also, I don't think I'll be buying anymore Redsea products any time soon. It's how they're handling this situation that I have an issue with :(

Gen 1 and being one of the larger tanks I would keep an eye on the seams. I wouldn't trash it tho. Make sure its level and on solid footing.

I had a G1 P500, it was solid. Then I got a G2 RS250 and it blew a seem. I noticed a build difference tho with the peninsula series, all 4 corners are supported by the stand vs non-peninsula series where only 2 corners are supported and the front glass "floats". I wouldn't hesitate to set up a P500, however I would keep an eye on the seams.

You guys have really given me a lot of perspective. Can always count on ARC to come through! Definitely will be setting it up now and just get some leak detectors just in case. Good to know that the peninsulas were a bit higher quality 😁. I’ve just been extremely paranoid after hearing all the stories. Will probably go custom or a different brand for the next one though.
