i want to buy a controller but i want to get some input before i make the purchase. RKL 100.00 RKE 399.99 whats the diff other than the accessories the elite comes with? can i expand the lite? can it do everything the elite can? whats the deal?

RKL can do four modules max. The RKE can do all you'd ever want. That's the biggest difference to me in terms of which one to buy.

I can't speak to the differences between those two, however I have both an RKII and a Neptune Apex and definitely favor the Apex. Programming is far superior with the Apex and there are a lot more people with the expertise to help with the Apex vs Reefkeeper.

With a tank of your size i would go all out and do the RKE w/net or a similar controller with similar functions. yer looking at $499. I have the RKE w/net and have no regrets as of now......although i think the SL2 and salinity probe are a waste of money but thats just me.

go to digitalaquatics.com and the differences between the lite and elite are listed.

I have the RKL and it does what I want with my 120g display, including run my new DIY LED fixture I'm making :)

There is also a deal to trade in the RKL for an RKE head module if you out grow it I believe.

Basically figure out everything you want it to do. As stated the RKL can only do 4 modules, but that's about all the limitations. It even works with NET now :0
