Return pump question

Hey everybody, i am planning on getting my return pump soon and was wondering how i figure out the right pump for my tank. I was thinking a mag5 or 7 and adjusting it to work by returning the same amount of water that came into the sump. I have a 1" hole bringing water to the sump and a 3/4" hole to bring it back. Also the tank is 55 gallons and with the sump it will be about 70-75 gallons. The water will have to be carried about 3-5 feet back up to the tank. If anybody knows what pump i should get or of some sort of calculator to figure out how many gph are draining from my tank to the sump that would be great.
Thanks

Your drain is fed by gravity, so as long as your return pump does not exceed the capacity of the overflow, you don't need to worry about the drain keeping up.

Mag 5 or 7 should be just fine for that size of tank.

Why the huge sump?

My sump is only 30 gallons and will only be filled to about 2/3 of that when it is running...i didnt think that it was that big.

Sorry, I misread... I saw "sump", and 75 gallons. That's what I get for speed-reading :)

You're right, the sump is appropriately sized for the tank.
