Appears it maybe.... As well as dry foods are lower in Po4 than frozen, not so much!

Very interesting find makes me feel better about beeing lazy and just tossing the frozen cube in cheers

I read this yesterday and thought it was pretty interesting. I never really rinsed anyway. Now I don't have to feel guilty about it. :)

I still say we're better off rinsing. I know a lot of cloudy crap goes down the drain instead of in my tank....

If your referencing foods like Rod's, that cloudy crap is food.

Right now, I'm referencing PE Mysis, and that cloudy crap is crap...... Actually it's probably food too, but nothing that gets eaten in the tank and just taxes the biofilter.

I plan to continue rinsing Mysis so I agree there.

+1 I don't know what the deal is with PE mysis, but it's like they froze it in milk.

I let it thaw on a paper towel, which absorbs a lot of the crap, then I squirt it with a little tank water, swish, and use tongs to pick it out of the water.

Very interesting read, tanks :D for sharing!

I never did bother rinsing my food - I only ever put it in a little RODI to defrost it and then dumped the whole thing in the tank - but that's not saying much, since that tank had on-again-off-again ssues I was never able to fully nail down... though I can't say I think this was the problem, either, since we didn't feed much frozen anyway and as I recall, phosphates never tested as problematic, it was always nitrites and nitrates.

I always just tossed the pe mysis in. Maybe I could start rinsing

I figure whatever the filter feeders or coral in my tank don't eat, the skimmer will get so I never rinse.
