Got my hands on a RKE elite and I'm connecting everything up. The temp probe has a bus plug but the SL1 has a 2 prong connection. What gives??? Am I taking the crack?

Sounds like you have a RKL temp probe. I think they are bus plugs. All 3 of my RKEs is a 2 prong. If you have the 2 prong end you can cut the end off the bus plug and add the 2 prong to make it work.

one is a itemp probe and one is a temp probe. The bus ended one has to be in the last connected module bus port. The other probe goes into an SL1 or SL2 module.

Huh? Interesting...I just bought it used so that's possible. Any clue as to what wires to connect where. I haven't been able to find anything online.
I just realized I call it a RKE elite, I think there is a redundant vowel there.
:D

Ah, so at the open end of the series on the SL1 bus port 2?

Get on Digital Aquatics forum there is a post some where that tell how to do it. (I think I read that so do not cut it till you find it there)

Edit: The last post says that the connector is the only difference, but you need to still check into it more to make sure. Found it. The probes are the same the connector is all that is different. http://www.forum.digitalaquatics.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12443&p=51729&hilit=itemp#p51729">http://www.forum.digitalaquatics.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12443&p=51729&hilit=itemp#p51729</a>

All you need is this to convert the bus to the 2 pin plug. [IMG]http://www.store.digitalaquatics.com/product-info.php?pid129.html">http://www.store.digitalaquatics.com/product-info.php?pid129.html</a>

I have that double ended plug...Grrrrr!
Looks like I'll be doing some soldering tomorrow.

There is a port on the SL1 noted as "Temp" in-between the "pH" and the "Switch A" port. The non-bus temp probe goes in there.

Do you have an SL1 or an SL2 module?

Plug the temp probe bus into the last module bus port in the chain, and it should work (I think).
