i have tried at two separate locations: bathroom and kitchen. the back up pressure from the Coralife RO/DI 55GPD unit is causing leaks in the pipes even though when normal use of the faucet doesn't have this problem. anyone in my shoes? or any recommendations?

Leaks where? In the plumbing lines, the faucet?

How do you have it hooked up?

I had mine hooked up the the faucet before and it wasn't making a good seal, that caused a pretty big leak. I hooked it up to my water heater (cold supply) and haven't had any issues.

You can get an adapter valve that goes between the cold water cutoff and the faucet hose, and hook it up underneath the sink. Those are pretty easy, no leaks... Just use some Teflon tape.

in the plumbing line. leak detected at the cold water line underneath the bathroom sink counter.

Edit:

can you provide a link to the valve you're referring to? a total plumbing noob here:doh:

Edit: i was told by someone who visited my house that the reason for the leak is because the kitchen and bathroom faucets are cheaply made........i don't know if that helps any. I was also told that if i take the RO/DI to the outside where the garden hose faucet is, i might have better luck since it looks "sturdier"

Hmmm is the weight of the RO/DI being soley supported by the cold water supplies?

I don't have a link, but here's a pic of mine:

Its a brass needle valve that goes in between the cold water cutoff and the faucet hose.

Plus a few size adaptors and compression fitting connectors.

The clear tube goes to my RO/DI system.

Water will take the path of least resistance, so if the faucets are cheap, or their seals are leaky, they'll leak.

However even new cheap faucets don't usually leak, the seals are what's holding against the water pressure.

I how ok mine up to the garden hose to make water. Works great every Friday night I'm making water

will this work?

and what is the diameter of the clear tube? last i check, the input (yellow) line of the RO/DI unit doesn't look that skinny

My input line looks that skinny , 1/4 inch ice maker tubing size.

55 Gallon DT, 30 Gallon Sump, Dual DIY PVC Overflow, Tunze Protein Skimmer, Jier JR 400 Gph return pump, 4 bulb T5HO w/ Night LEDs, 1x 850gph Koralia

replace water line hose from valve to faucet with a prefab semi rigid PVC or chromed copper line . buy a push type tee fitting and in install in-line (3/8 3/8 1/4 ) add a push type in-line 1/4 valve lowes has copper push-on fittings for the tee that are execellent and fit everthing rigid. those type petcock valves are old technology.

I know this thread goes back a bit but I have finally found time to deal with the said issue. I was taking things/plumbing s apart when I noticed that the hose where the water comes out is missing the rubber o-ring and it coincide s with the leakage spot, could the missing o-ring be the cause?

I had the same problem cheap sink glacier bay I believe, I think there's not enough threads on the sink I got a adapter for my shower (never used) in my basement bathroom and ran my ro/di unit off of it. Hope this helps
