Have to add. I'm not saying I'm doing it the right way. I've read that flushing is required and that it's a waste of time. Don't just take my word for it. Research it yourself and see of you think it's worth it.

You can get all the replacement bits for your RO/DI locally.
With a TDS of 50 for your source water, the membrane should still be OK - but have you changed the prefilters at all since you got the unit?
An ounce of prevention (changing prefilters regularly) is worth a pound of cure - keeping the 2 cheapest components changed out often, will save you money on the expensive ones, by prolonging their life.

It's good to flush the unit periodically.
It's also good to sanitize the unit periodically too - something that almost nobody seems to do.
We recommend sanitizing once a year for units for drinking water, I would think the same would be true for using for aquariums water.
