RO question: Waste water doesn't stop

Found the problem so I'll post here in case other people need RO help in the future:

I needed to install another check valve between the membrane and the shutoff. :)

I just saw this thread and have a similar problem with mine. I bought mine through Air, Water & Ice, hooked it up, been running for about a month and it still seems to drip constantly on the waster end. No booster, but have a float valve on my make-up water container.
Any ideas?

#1 I bought a backup of the piece mentioned
#2 I have not replaced it because I can get it to "self correct" (I hate that concept) by shutting the incoming water off for a day. Usually I also backflush the system at the same time but I think the "fix" is more in shutting off the incoming water. I bought the replacement shutoff at the recommendation of the vendor when it first started happening (less then 6 months after purchase). The system is now somewhere around 4 years old and I have not installed the replacement but have had to shut down the input side every couple of months. I suspect the issue is pressure related and it may be that you need to open up the output side with the input side off as well (we have our connected to a float too so this is likely happening without me thinking about it).

I have the same set up but i turn it on off manually when needed. I havent advanced that far yet :) i still have to schlepp the water to my 10 gallon top off tank, i dont mind

That could waste a lot of water. My RO/DI is in the garage and the waste connector is plumbed into the hot water tank's pressure release pipe. Waste water drains out side the house.

Guess I need to check on this every once in a while.

WOOPS anyways they have a breakdown of ro units and a good troubleshooting guide. also a lot of times you have to get air out of the shut off valves before they work correctly. good luck
