Safe o-ring lubricant

Dielectric grease is the best.

Edit: Less than a buck at any auto parts store.

I wouldnt use vasoline as it is petrolium based. I use dielectric " tune up" grease because it is silicon based. It is available at your local auto parts store.

Edit: Hehehe Jaycen beat me to it!

You're lubing down a gasket, not creating an oil slick......

I've used it for twenty years on tank parts, I've yet to have a fish to die from it...... I think it's pretty inert in that form.

AKA silicone grease.

Great on normal rubber O-Rings, but not for Silicone O-Rings.

Could you please elaborate. Does silicone not do well with silicone? IDK.

Silicone grease, when used on silicone O-rings, will break down the silicone O-rings and destroy them.

Basically, the liquid silicone in the grease will attack the silicone O-Rings and degrade them over time.

Silicone's great on normal black rubber O-Rings, however.

sometimes I wonder where y'all get your "information" from...

Silicone can be used to lubricate all rubber and silicone o rings and is the only lubricant that should be used with rubber/epdm o rings..

Nice...

Silicone (2)
(2) Sometimes OK for static seals; not OK for dynamic seals

And that's why I suggested that Silicone Grease shouldn't be used on Silicone O-Rings, though I hadn't seen that source before.

Kinda like Vaseline will do to rubber?

I'm just sayin.......

Far, far worse:

... are we still talking about O-Rings? :lol2:
