sanity salt by seachem

It'll be mix reviews nyk. Some swear by it and refuse to use anything else. Other will curse their name

I need some "sanity" salt right about now. The holidays are ROUGH!! Obviously you meant Salinity.

I just got it and mixed it with some left over salt. I like the bucket that contains the salt. it dissolved really fast and you don't need a lot to get to the desired salt concentration (sg) when mixing it with rodi water

That was me, I switched to it right when it came out and I still love it.

I will say it levaves an extreme amount of white residue everywhere when mixing. However, while other salts say 200g that's at a specific gravity or 1.021 while the 200g of salinity is mixed at 1.026 so you get more for the money basically.

It is OK. I tried it just to see how it was. It is certainly a fine salt. But, nothing still beats my mix of either 1/2 Oceanic and 1/2 regular Tropic Marin or 2/3 Oceanic and 1/3 regular Tropic Marin......just depends on where my chemistry sits when I do a water change. I get near perfect chemistry on the mix with nearly all parameters being in the higher part of their desired aquarium ranges. Saves money in the long run by decreasing supplementation. The only corals I have ever lost since using this mix are the ones my 6 year old.....now 7 inch emperor angel decides to eat.....but she is worth it.

I just switched to Salinity last month after using Red Sea Coral Pro Salt for two years and so far I am very pleased with how my tanks are looking since the change.

I am biting my tounge on this thread but I went through 3 buckets of salinity and switched back to RC a couple months back, nough said

You wouldn't be the only one

I think that salinity is probably best used if you use the entire Aquavitro product line. That being said, I would never use it. Any company that uses a plastic handle on their bucket is just asking for trouble. :)

I don't have a beef with seachem(aquavitro is a different story), I just get good results with cheaper stuff.

It may be a great product if you do not have to dose as frequently as I do. My tank has a ton of ca, mg, and alk consuming animals and regardless the salt, I will need to dose, or buy a reactor. The benefits of salinity(IMO) are high levels. Well reef crystals has high levels and costs a lot less. Ive bounced around with a lot of salt and think that I'll probably stick with RC and IO for a while. Might try seachem reef salt.... We'll see after the RC

I like it!

all my parems are always spot on, on;y need to dose Calcium & Alk...occasionally mag..

I used seachem for a year or so and found it and reef crystals to be essentially the same. Seachem salt does have one edge on reef crystals in dissolvability. Returned to reef crystals after salinity because of a great deal.

Would you have gone back to seachem reef salt after salinity? Assuming it was the same price as reef crystals.

I probably would have, I never had a problem with seachem reef salt
