Mods.......If this needs to be moved to DIY forum please do so. I just thought that it would get more hits here.

So my tank has been sitting out in my garage for about 10 months now and I have been very careful not to let anything scratch/bump into it. I was cleaning off the dust from it this evening and noticed a very fine scratch about 2.5-3" long. I was ticked to find this to say the least. I had an acrylic tank before and am familiar with scratch removal on acrylic.

Is there anything I can do to remove this scratch or am I stuck with it?

Thanks

Tyson

Glass can be buffed, but the only place I know of to get the polishing compound is Eastwood Automotive. They specialize in restoration tools, and most of their stuff is made to make/repair items that are simply unobtainable anymore. They make a kit to polish scratched windshields.

have you used this or known anyone that used this on an aquarium? the last thing I want to do is distort my viewing pane. I will probably be the only one that notices the dang thing.....Still, I can't believe it happened.

Nope, but the amount of distortion you get will be proportionate to the depth of the scratch. If it's really faint, you should get good results. If you can "catch" it with a fingernail, I wouldn't even try.

Ok. Thanks!! I can barely catch it with a fingernail so I'm gonna leave it alone. I'll just have to live with it.

Thanks again
