The pics I see of the impact series of skimmer are more like a mrc style skimmer. Not 100% because I don't have one but isn't the height for this style skimmer adjusted by the gate valve too? You'll need to open up the valve a little to adjust the water height in the skimmer. About 1 inch inside the inner wall of the collection cup after it breaks in. If it really is like an asm just push the pipe where the water outflows down a bit until the water adjusts to the location previously described. Hope that's some help.
