How aggressive is a Powder Brown? I have a 265 and still have a handful of fishes I am planning on adding. My fear is that I will be closing that door if I move the Powder Brown from my QT to my 265 right now based on what I heard about the aggressive nature of the fish. Is that a valid concern?

Thanks...

I would add any tangs that are known aggressors to your tank last.

I've had my PB for 2 1/2 years... He's a puppy dog. Never had a problem. (90g tank)

I have a brown and a yellow tang in a 90. The brown tang messes with the new fish on the first day I put them in and then he leaves them alone. I think he just likes to show them he is the boss

sounds like adding fishes later on may not be an issue if the powder brown already exists. he may terrorize a newcomer but doesn't sound like he'll kill it. let me know if my understanding is incorrect.

he could. you just never know. since you have him already that ship has sailed though and it just means precaution will need to be taken when you add new fish later on.

add new fish at lights out, use a mirror to distract him for a few days, pictures of himself taped to the glass for distraction, rearrange rockwork...these are all tricks that will help keep his agression towards new arrivals down.

Do what I did...tape numerous pics of the fish you're adding to the glass a week before you get the new one and then add the live fish. I added an Achilles to a pool of tangs and he's fine.

It did for me. I added a powder blue a chevron and an achilles using that method and it's worked every time. Of course, they will bother the new fish for a few days but will leave them alone onde established. You all know how difficult it is to add an achilles without it getting stressed right away.
