Can anyone recommend a good one for a RO 150 or a comparable size , or maybe a diy build for one .

Seems every 10 days I wash 2mm thick mud off the neck and then it takes 2 days to start skimming god again but efficiency tapers off as it gets caked up so I'm thinking it will run better if I just use the drain line and only take the cup off if necessary.

No problem. There was a similar thread on R2R a week or so back, and I remembered thinking that video was pretty nifty.

i wish motorized neck cleaners weren't so dang expensive. but that does seem like a pretty cool alternative

Lets just hope when I glue it down it in the right spot 1mm too far in and it wont quite work , but Im definitely going to give it a shot.

theres gotta be a way to make a reference mark on the lid so you glue it in the right spot maybe tape a ruler to the inside of the collection cup and sharpie the crap out of the tip of the ruler so that when you put the lid down it leaves a mark and you get an idea of where the edge of the squeegee needs to go

Maybe use a a couple of magnets until you find the right spot and then when it's good glue it. Might be worth it rig up a plastic threaded screw at a 90 degree angle to a shaft of some sort, the screw/unscrew until you find the right spot.

I saw a thread somewhere that had a inexpensive microwave motor sealed in an acrylic box that turned the above mentioned contraption.

Guys your making this way to hard.
Step 1 take your entire lid/cup assembly off
Step 2 lay the both upside down
Step 3 Apply super glue to the end of the squeegee
Step 4 Put the squeegee touching the neck and slide it into its final glue spot
Step 5 Let it dry
Step 6 remove skimmer lid and apply more glue to provide a stronger bond
Step 7 Enjoy a beer

Yeah it might work if you but Step 7 at the beginning of the process , but it's not super cool until you attach a motor and plug into the apex

I'm going to put this to work.

So back to Jamos question. So the sludge built up on the neck just goes back down for the skimmer to essentially reprocess it?
