Im needing some info on what a decent cheap skimmer would be that would fit my system. I have a 30g cube and I dont have any fish yet but am only looking to get a pair of clowns and maybe another small fish in the future.

do you have a sump?
Maybe a little overkill but it is not expensive and way overrated for your tank, and you can hang on or put in sump. comes with pump. Im sure there are better recommendations coming just tossin this one at ya..i used the bigger model for a while and had no issues.

Then look elsewhere.. Hahahaha people say they work great if you keep the water level perfectly stable..

Should be able to pick up a used Reef Octopus on the low..

Thanks Doc I'll have to keep my eyes open on that Octopus.

Mine worked nicely - other than being way to small and came with the tank i wasnt dissatisfied..

I thought he wanted cheap and $100 w/pump is pretty cheap IMO

If you can get a better name brand with pump for around $100 then I would jump on that all day long.....

I have a Coralife Super Skimmer you can have for $30 only thing it's missing is a pump which you can pick up fairly easy. I upgraded to a AIO tank so don't need it anymore.

aqua c remora is a pretty dang good skimmer. I suppose u can use it on the side of a sump if you have the room.

Those coralife skimmers are brutal. Daily adjustments. Used to be a big pain in the rear for me, I despise those skimmers. I had it in perfectly stable water conditions with a top-off and it still would just freak overflow all the time.

I would look into a reef octopus. If I was in the market for a new good budget skimmer that is where I would be looking.

I currently have an ASM g-1x and am very satisfied with it.

Whatever you do make sure you get a skimmer that is atleast double-triple the rated size of the aquarium. I.E. if the skimmer says it can skim 65 gal, get one that can atleast do 100 gph on that cube. These companies seriously overshoot their numbers. A 65 gph skimmer might be good for a 20 gal.

Of course YMMV, but please stay away from the coralife. You would be wanting a new skimmer shortly, trust me on that.

I used a superskimker for a long time, it worked just fine for me, if I had to rebuy I would start out with an octopus

If you don't need one right now, look for a quality used one here or on craigslist or RC. That should help you find a very good skimmer in your budget.

Yea I will def keep my eye out for now and may just go ahead and purchase one within the month if I dont find one cheap soon.
