Here is the finished rockscape. Don't know what to make of it yet, I wasn't going for a crab shape, but that's what I ended up with. Haven't figured out the whitebalance at all with these LEDs, but this give you the idea.

It's 12" above the water's surface. There may be a small</em> amount of spotlighting, but no where near what the pictures portray. I think it looks so much brighter in the center because that is the flatest and whitest part of the rock.

I have not figured out how to take pics that look anything like what it looks like in person yet. I guess I will have to get something pure white to stick in the tank to set my white balance against.

got ya, did you get the blue or white fixture? what % are you running the lights at? i heard 30/30 is a good starting point for corals

I have the Sol Blue. You can set White, Blue, and Royal Blue LEDs individually with the new firmware. You can have up to 12 or 14 (can't remember) timers. I may set it more white during the day when I am at work, and more blue for the evening for my viewing pleasure.

During the cycle I am just running 2% Royal Blue, unless I am messing with the tank or taking pics. Not sure what I will start out with once I start adding stuff.

what did you use to mount your light? im pretty sure im going to be placing my order tomorrow for my fixture

Thanks. I did install the MP10, but just playing the waiting game now. No nitrite yet, plenty of ammonia.

thanks for the link. socal tropical is having a 15% off sale so its hard to pass up now :D

If you don't mind me asking... how much was shipping? I tried to make my biocube rimless... and the glass cracked. SO now I am back to square one. I just made a 16x16 stand with a 17x17 overhang... and I really like the pico aquariums 18x18x9 manta ray. I am considering redoing the top piece to 18x18, but I don't know if it will hold with good support. The way it is set up now, this thing could easily take 200 + lbs- I just don't know how tanks work with support if there's overhang.

Another pic-less update...

I added the MP10, have it on Reef Crest at a 100% for now. Just trying to kick up all the junk I can off of and under the rocks.

I add the RKL with Temp and PH probes. I am waiting for my aqualifter to arrive before I add the ATO, but this tank does have significant evaporation with the open top....never gone topless before.

Cycle seems to be complete, have entered the diatom bloom stage. Have added 8 astreas, 10 blue legs, 2 scarlets, and an emerald. May add a cleaner or small fire shrimp in a week or so.

Very nice so far - love the light. I personally had problems with the Aqualifter after a while and ended up going with a BRS 50ml/min pump and couldn't be happier...I don't have any experience imaging with LED's - yet - but you may want to shoot raw and adjust the color balance before you save the jpeg...this is what I do for my dive shots. Good luck - will be following your thread closely!
