OK so i'm setting up a 125 gal (72x18x22) and tranfering my current fish to it but I wanna add more...of course. So currently I have:

Pair of Percs. (which laid eggs for the 1st time this week:yay:)
Purple Firefish
Starry Blenny
Christmas Wrasse
Pigmy Hawkfish

I'd like to add:

Powder Blue Tang
Bluespot Jawfish
Anthias (not sure which...opinions?)
Fairy wrasse (opinions?)
Red Dragonnet

Would the christmas wrasse be ok w/ the fairys and would the powder blue outgrow the tank? Is there any particular order I should introduce them...Thanks

oh... i'll be starting a build thread soon after many yrs of wishing and months of planning:thumbs:

The PBT should be fine in that tank as far as room goes. The jawfish will need a pretty deep sandbed (or a homemade burrow). Be absolutely sure your tank is mature with a thriving population of pods (preferably with a large refugium so they can reproduce well) or the red mandarin dragonet will starve.
Oh, and make sure you have a mesh top on because you listed a couple that are prone to jumping.

Otherwise, sounds like a nice list.

The tank will have glass tops...I know about the pod issue, actually hoping to wait for the ORA dragonnets that will accept pellets. But yes the tank will have a 55 gal sump with fuge.

Here's a peek at the sump, with all the goodies in it...the stand will be modified so theres anouther 10" of headroom.

Looks great. I think you only need one of those lights though for the fuge

Really, they are only 18 watts each CF...I'll try with one see how it goes. Saves me an outlet too! This is my first "real" tank. My others were HOB skimmer, no sump, etc...I get all my ideas and advice from reading this site!

I have a regular flourescent "sun" single bulb over my 20H planted/qt tank and it grows macro, gsp and xenia just fine.

Cool I'll send one back! Question: can I tee off the return line to feed the fuge.. If so does it matter where the tee is located, and do I need some kind of ball valve between Tee and fuge to regulate flow to the fuge.

All sounds right. Tee just needs to be at a level to reack the fuge. Wish you weren't in Kentucky. I would snag your extra light. Need to see if that one in another thread has been traded up on yet

Thanks for the advice...If I don't return it I could bring it to Atlanta for you next time I visit if you want

Oh I am nowhere near atlanta, but let me know I may be up at a meeting or something. I am sure one of these guys would trade you a frag for your new tank for it as well. Would work out better for YOUR schedule to be in ATL anyway I am sure

ok, wish I were closer to all the action...not much locally, internet mail order rules!

Nice looking setup. ONe thing I noticed and would question though....are the baffles in the sump made of black acrylic? If so and you used aquarium silicone to put them in place, they most likely will leak and eventually pull away. Silicone won't stick to acrylic. Many have used acrylic with glass and silicone with some success but only because they piled the silicone on forming somewhat of a dam along the edges. Personally, I've never had one stay together for more than a year though. Otherwise....really nice looking stuff...best of luck.

PS: I'm near you all the time...I do work in Florence and Georgetown. Used to live in the Lexington area for 17 years.

Looks good! Yes, you will need a ball valve on the return line going to the refugium if you are feeding it from there. You might want to ask again about keeping a Christmas Wrasse with Fairy Wrasses that might be a problem.

I did this as well...hope it will hold for more than a yr!

I was a little concerned about the wrasse, I was thinking of getting rid of the christmas wrasse anyway, because he ate most of my CUC.

What brings you up this way? I've been here about 18 months...originally from Roswell.

Purple queen anthias are pretty and there min is 125, but they get 8 inches max. They are expensive either, Cliff as some for $20
