My daughter and I are about to start setting up her birthday present and letting it cycle. We were looking at fish online today and I was letting her give her opinions on some fish that would be appropriate in the nano.
This will be a FO tank, or at the most a few softies. We plan to use one or two of the little Ecoxotic LED modules for lighting.
Her list, in order of stocking:
Green banded goby
Red striped goby
Red firefish
Ocellaris clownfish
She wants a pair of clowns, but I told her she needed to stay with no more than this number of fish, but I'm trying to cut the list to three... am I being too cautious? She'd give up either the firefish or the red-striped for another clown, but I'm trying to get her to have a good variety instead of duplicates.
The red-striped is very small, and shouldn't be with "more agressive" fish, and at first I wondered about the clown. However, I don't think it would be an issue since I've never seen a clown mess with another species (unless they are defending their anemone).
What do you guys think?
