Does anyone make sumps locally? Or at least somewhat locally to Atlanta? I am in the planning stages of rebuilding my reef tank. I'm tired of it being full of freshwater.

I'm looking for a custom sump (approx 3'x4'x18" tall) - I don't care if it is glass or acrylic or honestly anything else. It doesn't even have to be pretty as it'll be in the basement. It just has to be solidly built to last.

I am considering buying and chopping one of the 240g HDPE containers you can find for like $75-100, but that is a real hassle as those edges would be very uneven and it'll flex when cut down.

At any rate, does anyone know if there is someone who makes custom sumps locally?

Thanks,
Wade

U can also get one of the big fish tank and turn it into a sump. It will fit better with your equipment and budget too. Text me if u need any help 404-421-4670

Might lookin these at tractor supply.
Sorry about pic, did a screen shot. But if interested, go to the sight.

Oceanbox (Guy named Phoung, great guy, great work) makes kits for you to convert tank like Ricky was saying.

Might be pricy, but I can attest the quality of all his work is usually very good. You will need to silicone yourself but its fairly easy. You could also contact im on FB for more custom requests

Thanks for these. I've used the livestock tanks in the past, but they tend to be very sloped and not very big on the base compared to the top, which can be used, but isn't ideal.

If I go with a tank, I'd need a cube or at least a 90g for size, so I'm not sure the cost works out. But, it is a good idea to scan the ads and craigslist just in case.

Just a random thought: Does anyone have a source for and/or a capacity to cut sheet acrylic locally?

Welding the acrylic is simple enough if someone can cut it smoothly.

There are a couple of members that can do it. I just don't know if they want it posted as they are usually backed up quite a bit.

If you know the exact dimensions you're needing Calsak Plastics can cut it for you when you buy the sheet from them. You will get exactly what you ask for so be sure you've got it right.

If you can spare the dime get a nice sump that is pro made imo. It's one of the most important pieces of equipment you'll invest in

I'm actually going to have a 90 available in the next couple weeks. You can see it in my build thread. It's an AGA.

anyone with a table saw and fine tooth blade can cut it, the assembling is the tricky part

I've done both. A table is tough to make those cuts with and I don't use mine often enough to trust myself to do it with a large sheet. Smaller pieces I would be fine with personally.
